भारत के महान वैज्ञानिक 'Sir C.V. Raman' का निधन आज ही के दिन वर्ष 1970 में हुआ था. Sir C.V. Raman ने Light Scattering के प्रभाव पर महत्वपूर्ण शोध किया था. Physics में इस Effect को उन्हीं के नाम पर Raman Scattering और Raman Effect कहा जाता है. 1930 में 'Sir C.V. Raman' को अपने शोध के लिए नोबेल पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था.
