ऑस्ट्रेलिया पहुंचने से पहले पीएम मोदी ने पापुआ न्यू गिनी में कई कार्यक्रमों में हिस्सा लिया. इस दौरान उन्होंने भारतीय समुदाय के लोगों से भी मुलाकात की. पीएम मोदी ने यहां फोरम फॉर इंडिया पेसिफिक आईलैंड को-ऑपरेशन समिट में भी हिस्सा लिया. पीएम मोदी को फिजी के सर्वोच्च सम्मान से भी सम्मानित किया गया.
