जम्मू-कश्मीर में विधानसभा भंग होने के बाद राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक ने गुरुवार को प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस करके कहा कि अगर किसी भी पार्टी को सरकार बनाने का मौका देता तो राज्य में पहले जैसे ही हालात हो जाते. उन्होंने कहा, 'किसी को भी मौका देता तो बड़े पैमाने पर खरीद-फरोख्त होती.' साथ ही उन्होंने कहा, 'मैंने यह फैसला राज्य के हित में लिया है. मेरे पास कोई आया नहीं, किसी ने विधायकों की परेड भी नहीं करवाई. मैंने किसी से बातचीत नहीं की. मैंने यह काम जम्मू-कश्मीर के संविधान के तहत किया है. जम्मू-कश्मीर के संविधान में प्रावधान है कि मुझे इस काम के लिए राष्ट्रपति या देश के संसद से अनुमति नहीं लेनी पड़ती.'
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik today emphatically defended his decision to dissolve the state assembly after keeping it in suspended animation for months just after two alliances staked claim to power last evening. He said Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, rivals who had teamed up to stake claim to power along with the Congress, had both asked him repeatedly to dissolve the assembly over the past few months.
