The matter is of August 1950 when the election of Congress President was to be held. Face off was between Jeevatram Bhagwandas Kriplani, popularly known as Acharya Kripalani, and Purushottam Das Tandon, who came from Nehru's city of Allahabad. Nehru and Tandon may have come from the same city but there were tremendous differences between the two regarding ideology.
