एक नई रिपोर्ट में भारत की सबसे बड़ी गंगा नदी के अस्तित्व को लेकर चिंता जताई गई है. रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, जिस गंगोत्री ग्लेशियर को गंगा नदी का उद्गम स्थल माना जाता है, वो पिछले 87 वर्षों में 1700 मीटर तक पिघल चुका है. 1935 से 1996 के बीच ये ग्लेशियर हर साल औसतन 20 मीटर और फिर 1996 से बाद से ये लगातार हर साल औसतन 38 मीटर तक पिघल रहा है. और अगर इसके पिघलने की रफ्तार यही रही तो उत्तराखंड के साथ दूसरे राज्यों के करोड़ों लोगों के जीवन पर एक बड़ा संकट पैदा हो जाएगा. देखें ये खास रिपोर्ट.

A new report has raised concerns about the existence of India's largest river Ganges. According to the report, the Gangotri glacier, which is considered to be the origin of the Ganges river, has melted by 1700 meters in the last 87 years. Between 1935 and 1996, this glacier has been melting by an average of 20 meters every year and then since 1996, it has been melting by an average of 38 meters every year.
