Upper-caste groups on Thursday called for a Bharat Bandh against the recent amendment approved by Parliament to overturn a Supreme Court judgment over the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The call for Bharat Bandh led to some disruptions in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The protesters demanded restoration of the Supreme Court judgment.
