लोकसभा में AIMIM के सांसद असदुद्दीन ओवैसी ने बिल का विरोध करते हुए कहा कि यह बिल संविधान के साथ धोखा है और बाबा साहेब अंबेडकर का अपमान है. संविधान की मूलभावना के खिलाफ यह बिल लाया गया है क्योंकि संविधान में सामाजिक न्याय के लिए आरक्षण की व्यवस्था की गई थी. उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार के पास संविधान निर्माताओं से ज्यादा दिमाग नहीं है, क्या कभी सवर्णों ने कभी छुआछूत और भेदभाव का सामना किया है. ओवैसी ने कहा कि सरकार को सवर्णों के आंकड़े दिखाने चाहिए कि वो किस आधार पर उन्हें आरक्षण दे रहे हैं. उन्होंने कहा कि यह बिल सरकार पर बोझ है.
