अमेरिका में आज राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडन के साथ उप राष्ट्रपति कमला हैरिस ने भी शपथ लिया. शपथ ग्रहण के समय कमला हैरिस के तमिलनाडु स्थित नागापट्टिनम जिले में थुलासेंद्रपुरम गांव में जश्न का माहैल था. इस दौरान थुलासेंद्रपुरम गांव में लोगों ने मिठाइयां बांट कर और पटाखे जलाकर एक दूसरे को बधाई दी. दरअसल कमला हैरिस की मां भारतीय और पिता जमैकन थे. उनकी मां तामिलनाडु के इसी गांव से ताल्लूक रखती थी. देखें वीडियो.
