केंद्र सरकार ने सेना में भर्ती की जो नई अग्निपथ योजना लॉन्च की है उसके तहत हो रही भर्तियों में आवदेकों से जाति पूछी जा रही है. अब बिहार की राष्ट्रीय जनता दल और दिल्ली की आम आदमी पार्टी के नेता ये बयान दे रहे हैं कि सेना भर्ती में सरकार इसलिए जाति पूछ रही है क्योंकि फिर जाति के आधार पर उनके साथ सरकार भेदभाव करेगी जबकि सरकार की सफाई है कि भारत की सेना में भर्ती के लिए धर्म-जाति-लिंग-भाषा-क्षेत्र किसी भी आधार पर कोई भेदभाव नहीं किया जाता है और आवेदन पत्र में अंग्रेज़ों के जमाने से ही जाति का कॉलम इसलिए रखा जाता है ताकि अगर कोई सैनिक शहीद हो जाए तो उचित धार्मिक रीति रिवाज के साथ उसका अंतिम संस्कार किया जा सके. चित्रा त्रिपाठी के साथ दंगल में देखिए इन्हीं तमाम मुद्दों पर एक्सपर्ट्स और पक्ष-विपक्ष के साथ चर्चा.
