अगर सब रही रहा तो भारतीय सेना के हाथ में पूरी तरह स्वदेशी स्नाइपर राइफल होगी. देश में पहली स्नाइपर राइफल बनकर तैयार है. बस टेस्ट होना बाकी है. भारतीय सेना को 5 से 6 हजार स्नाइपर राइफ्लस की जरूरत है. इस जरूरत को पूरा करने के लिए हम अब तक रूस और अमेरिका जैसे देशों की कंपनियों पर निर्भर हैं. इन दोनों स्नाइपर राइफल का नाम वाइपर और सेबर है. वाइपर की रेंज 1.2 किलोमीटर है. सेबर की 1.5 किलोमीटर है. वाइपर राइफल में .308/7.62x51 एमएम की कार्टेज और साबेर राइफल में .338 की कार्टेज है.
