अफगानिस्तान छोड़ने की अफरातफरी में लोग मौत को दावत देने से भी नहीं चूक रहे. 16 अगस्त अमेरिकी विमान से लटक कर भागने की कोशिश में जो लोग आसमान से नीचे गिर गए थे उनमें एक अफगानिस्तान की राष्ट्रीय फुटबॉल टीम का सदस्य जकी अनवारी भी था. स्थानीय मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स की मानें तो ज़की अनवारी अफगानिस्तान की राष्ट्रीय सॉकर टीम का खिलाड़ी था. तालिबान के खौफ से उसने भागने की कोशिश की. लेकिन उसके मुकद्दर ने दगाबाज़ी कर दी. ठीक इसी तरह विमान से गिरे दूसरे आदमी का नाम मतीन बताया जा रहा है. दोनों विमान से एक छत पर गिरे थे.
Zaki Anwari, an Afghan national team footballer, died in a fall from a US plane at Kabul airport on Monday, the Afghan news agency said on Thursday. Crowds of people seeking to flee Afghanistan have thronged the airport since Taliban insurgents swept to power on Sunday, many seen trying to board a moving plane. Afghan news agency said Zaki Anwari fell from a USAF Boeing C-17 and that the death had been confirmed by the General Directorate for Sport.
