नंदी भोले के द्वारपाल हैं, जिनकी इच्छा के बिना भक्ति के द्वार नहीं खुलते. नंदी की मर्जी के बिना शिव-शंकर किसी से नहीं मिलते. यही वजह है कि हर शिव मंदिर के बाहर उनकी मूर्ति जरूर रहती है और उनके दर्शन करके ही भक्त शिव मंदिर में प्रवेश करते हैं. नंदी भक्ति और शक्ति का प्रतीक हैं. आंध्र प्रदेश के करनूल स्थित मंदिर में भक्तों के बीच ये मान्यता है कि नंदी की प्रतिमा का आकर बढ़ता जा रहा है. इस स्थान की मान्यता कई हजार साल पुरानी है. देखें ये वीडियो.
